Biochrom Case Study
Biochrom
When Biochrom needed some specially manufactured ‘cells’ for their scientific instrument manufacturing areas Biochrom came to Birley.

As part of the project, Biochrom provided Birley with a brief to supply fully Electrostatic Discharge compliant work benches to their factory in Cambridge. Birley manufactured and supplied the cells in accordance with their specific brief. The finished manufacturing cells each comprise two benches for assembly, one linking bench and a docking trolley which could be moved between the cells.
The work benches are fully ESD protected and include bin storage, power and overhead tool rails so overhead power tools can be used in the cells. Workbenches are equipped with keyboard trays so that keyboards can be safely stowed away beneath the worktops.

Phil Hingley, project manager for Birley Manufacturing and head of the project, said: “The client had very precise requirements for their work stations due to the specialist nature of their work. We have a host of experience in manufacturing high quality ESD-protected work benches and so we were able to exactly match the brief.”
Gary Cunnington, Production Engineering Manager at Biochrom, commented: “We have been happy with Birley’s co-operation in the manufacture of our new workbenches. Our brief was very specific and called for work benches of a very high standard – something that Birley were able to help us achieve.”
