Supplying solutions to the rail industry for almost a decade, Birley Manufacturing will be showcasing its expertise at the Railway Interiors Exhibition in Amsterdam this November.
Birley, which has a client base including Delta Rail, GNER, Midland Mainline and Serco, is bucking the current economic trend and storming ahead in the design and manufacture of railway interiors.
Recent projects have seen the Sheffield-based company supply aluminium underskirts for the Mark III fleet of passenger carriages.
These large units, which were fabricated and painted on-site in Birley's factory, protect the train's valuable equipment such as battery and air conditioning units from stones and other debris thrown up as the carriages travel at high speed.
Birley has also manufactured Emergency Egress Doors for Delta Rail.
Commented Steve English, Birley Manufacturing MD: "In keeping with the sector's stringent safety regulations and emergency planning these doors had to be allow passengers easy egress from vehicles in the event of the carriages becoming derailed. The specification required access through the door irrespective of any angle at which the carriage might subsequently be inclined. "We worked closely with Delta Rail on the design and testing of these units prior to manufacture to ensure that the doors met with the relevant Railway Group Standards." Birley has also provided Egress Doors for a number of fleets including FGW, Midland Mainline, Chiltern and One Rail.
