Academy delighted with bespoke furniture

Birley installed 17 classrooms with purpose built equipment at The George Salter Academy in West Bromwich, as part of a five-month long refurbishment project.

Working alongside the main contractor we provided an extensive range of modular and bespoke furniture to the science labs, ICT, music and performing arts rooms. This was undertaken in both the existing classrooms, which have undergone refurbishment, as well as in the new purpose built facilities.

The work involved a phased programme where the ICT rooms in the existing building were refurbished during the summer holidays followed by installation in the brand new purpose built facilities, which opened January after the winter break.

The room installations were part of a £12m building programme for the academy that included a new school entrance and brand new building that incorporated an assembly hall, music facilities, art department, a science department and teaching building. Some of the older buildings were demolished and the others re-modelled and refurbished.

We are delighted with the new classroom facilities which represent significant investment in science, technology and the arts. The new building and refurbishments will give our students access to the best state-of-the-art learning facilities.
