Class 185 refurbishment

Catering for change

A recent collaboration with TransPennine Express for an onboard catering area showcases Birley’s turnkey design, manufacturing and installation expertise

The recent TransPennine Express Class 185 refurbishment project demonstrates the turnkey service customers can expect from Birley. Working in partnership with Siemens in the UK, Birley was tasked with the design, manufacture and installation of a catering area for the trains.

Network Rail, George Stephenson House

Creative breakout areas

George Stephenson House, home to Network Rail in York, was refurbishing their 10,000m² building. This furniture was all manufactured and installed by Birley Manufacturing as part of this large infrastructure project.

The office was spread over a number of floors and new zones were created with meeting and break out areas, storage, atrium cladding and kitchen facilities.

Cardiff Central Station

Counting on quality

Cardiff Central Station required a new DDA compliant ticket counter. Birley manufactured the counters in a modular system which allowed quick and easy assembly at the station.  This reduced down time, minimised disruption to passengers and ensured that the new ticket office was up and running at the earliest opportunity.
